MAL-22 Mud Logging Analyser

MAL-22 Mud Logging Analyser

MAL-22

The Mud Analysis Logging MAL-22 device from BD Inventions is an accurate, fast and low-cost portable, bench-top instrument that conforms with the EN ISO 10693:2013, ASTM D4373-02(2007), and ASTM D1756-02(2007) standards for the calculation of calcite/dolomite ratio in soil and sediments samples.
During mud logging, the quality and quantity of hundreds of data from the drilling rocks and fluids are recorded to better understand the downhole lithology and to evaluate the worth of the drilling spot.
Since Hydrocarbons are stored in limestone rocks the detection of Carbonates percentage determines the mining progress. Moreover, the percentage of Dolomite in the analysed rock specimens is indication of oil and natural gas presence.

Conforms with EN ISO 10693, ASTM D4373ASTM D1756 & AFNOR - NF P94-048

Two steps procedure (automated):
(1) Rapid Pressure rise after mixing (Calcite detection)
(2) Slower Pressure rise for several minutes (Dolomite detection)

(1)   CaCO3(s) + 2HCl(l) → CaCl2(l) + CO2(g) + H2O(l)

(2)   CaMg(CO3)2(s) + 4HCl(l) → CaCl2(l) + MgCl2(l) + 2CO2(g) + 2H2O(l)
